Hui Zhang
Hui first practiced yoga ten years ago while at University in her homeland of China. Over the years she continued practicing to help with her marathon running and CrossFit training.
Hui’s first meditation experience was in 2014 when she resigned from her job with a funds management company and went to Kathmandu, Nepal to attend a 10 day Vipassana Meditation Course. She really felt the benefits of this practice and felt inspired to keep seeking. The next stage of this journey was a month volunteering at Mother Teresa House in Kolkata, India. These experiences really made Hui reconsider the direction she should take for the rest of her life.
In 2015 Hui came to New Zealand for a one year working holiday. Over this time, she started a regular Ashtanga practice at the Auckland Yoga Academy. In 2016 Hui visited the Stillwaters Retreat Centre and met Jude and Peter and decided to enrol in the Ashtanga teacher training programme. She finished the YA800 one year part time teacher training in early 2017 and started to teach at the Yoga Academy. In early 2018 Hui graduated from her second year Apprenticeship.
Hui feels very lucky to have found her Dharma, for Ashtanga Yoga and its life changing power and for all the teachers, family and friends who have helped her along the way. Hui is really looking forward to sharing this wonderful practice with others.
Hui currently teaches at the Auckland Yoga Academy:
