Iris started her yoga journey while at university in 2016, taking a variety of yoga and meditation classes on and off in the following ten years, mainly to get physical practice and release study and work pressure.

In 2017, Iris resigned from her job and accomplished a Hatha yoga teacher training, she then started teaching yoga in a yoga studio for 6 months. From these teaching experiences, she realised that she enjoys sharing the wonderful yoga practice and knowledge with others, meanwhile she needs to learn about yoga deeper, like anatomy, breathing and meditation.

Introduced to Ashtanga Yoga in August 2018, Iris met her teacher Yan in Ashtanga Chengdu Shala and practiced with her in Mysore style for around 6 months. She developed a deep love for Ashtanga practice as it nourished her wellbeing with positive energy physically and mentally, and she was eager to learn more.

After discovering the Auckland Yoga Academy, she decided to come to Auckland and study with Jude and Peter, to obtain deeper and systematic learning. She completed the YA800 Ashtanga teacher training over 2019, and started teaching at the Yoga Academy in early 2020. She graduated from her second year Ashtanga apprenticeship in early 2021.

Iris is willing to devote herself to Ashtanga yoga practice as her lifetime practice, she is also passionate to share her knowledge and experience with others.

Iris currently teaches at the Auckland Yoga Academy:
